$6,748 Canada Child Benefit In 2025 – Eligibility, Dates & What Parents Should Know

The CCB is a tax-free monthly payment to help families with the cost of raising children. For the July 2025–June 2026 benefit year, the maximum annual amount is $7,997 per child under age 6 and $6,748 per child aged 6–17 (equivalent to $666.41 and $562.33 per month respectively).

Payments are indexed to inflation and are recalculated each July using your 2024 Adjusted Family Net Income (AFNI).

When will you get CCB in 2025?

The CRA issues CCB on fixed monthly dates. For 2025, payments are scheduled for: Jan 20, Feb 20, Mar 20, Apr 17, May 20, Jun 20, Jul 18, Aug 20, Sep 19, Oct 20, Nov 20, Dec 12. If your total annual CCB is under $240, you’ll get a single lump-sum with July’s payment.

How your AFNI changes the amount

If your AFNI ≤ $37,487, you receive the maximum. Above that, the benefit is reduced (“clawed back”) based on family size:

  • One child: reduce by 7% of AFNI over $37,487 (and if AFNI > $81,222, reduction becomes $3,061 + 3.2% of income over $81,222).
  • Two children: 13.5% over $37,487; if AFNI > $81,222, $5,904 + 5.7% over $81,222.
(Additional brackets for larger families follow the same pattern.)

Child Disability Benefit (CDB)

If your child is DTC-eligible, you may also receive up to $3,411 per child in 2025–26 ($284.25/month), paid with your CCB.

First payment & processing time

After you apply, expect your first CCB within ~8 weeks (online) or ~11 weeks (by mail).

Why you’re seeing “$6,748”: That figure is the 2025–26 maximum annual CCB for each child aged 6–17; under-6 children have a higher maximum ($7,997).

Quick tips to maximize your CCB

  • File 2024 taxes on time so 2025–26 payments are accurate.
  • Update family changes (marital status, custody, address) promptly to avoid over/under-payments.

For 2025, families can receive up to $6,748 per child 6–17 (and $7,997 under 6), with payments landing on predictable monthly dates.

Your AFNI determines how close you are to the maximum, and CDB can further increase support for eligible children. Keep your tax filings and family details current to get the right amount at the right time.
